Poseidon is owned and operated by a local Port
Douglas family - a dedicated team sharing their
passion for snorkelling and scuba diving.
Founders of Poseidon, Peter and Barbara Wright
did much of the exploratory diving on the
Northern Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea &
the Solomon Islands in the 1980's with a
previous liveaboard dive vessel "Scheherazade".
They pioneered Outer Reef snorkelling and diving in
the Port Douglas area in the early 1980's.
Over 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE ensures that
Poseidon visits only the best possible sites, as
reef quality can vary greatly.
The first Poseidon commenced operation in Port
Douglas in 1994 taking 30 passengers cruising
daily to the Great Barrier Reef. Seeing
the demand for a faster, more comfortable
vessel, Poseidon II was built in 1997 and
increased the carrying capacity to 48
passengers. In April 2001, Poseidon III
was launched replacing Poseidon II. This
ultra modern vessel features many improvements
and refinements. Limited passenger numbers
ensures personal comfort and individual
attention.
Poseidon with its hands on
management, strives for
EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Poseidon enjoys a stellar
reputation and is committed to offering an
exceptional reef experience to visitors
showcasing
The Great Barrier Reef in a
PROFESSIONAL and FRIENDLY
manner.

Poseidon has been awarded
one of the few permits to swim with the Dwarf

are regularly encountered from May to September;
while their larger cousins, the Humpback
Whales, appear from July to September,
and are increasing in numbers. |
